The Daughters Collection

This collection was inspired by my daughters and their journeys as they deal with their health issues.

In the fall of 2022, our eldest daughter found out she had triple negative breast cancer, over the next few months, she and her family would find out just how difficult it was to manage a household when her husband was working over two hours away and she had two young children in her care.

I stepped in for seven weeks to try to help carry the load. While there, we realized she did not have services available that she needed; and a decision was made to transfer care so family would be around to help. She and our grandchildren moved in with us in January 2023, and her husband moved here in April 2023 as her fight continued.

In January 2023, out youngest daughter fell on ice while walking a dog. A few days later, her body started to retain fluid; and after being admitted to the hospital, she found out her 21 year old transplanted kidney had failed. She too needed family supports she began dialysis and the long road to try and find a kidney donor.

As mothers we are asked to so a lot of things for our children. We do these without question, but there is stress that comes. For me the perfect answer was to paint the stress away. So in November of 2022, I began this collection of small works with titles that dealt with what was happening in our lives at the time.
